Taylor Swift’s song ‘August’ has been removed from the Donald Trump campaign account on TikTok. The clip, posted 4 days ago, shows ‘muted’ instead of her song in the background. Many fans took to social media after the 36-year-old singer’s ‘Folklore’ album was removed from the handle that appeared to celebrate Trump’s presidency and the beginning of August.

Audio of Taylor Swift’s ‘August’ is no longer available for Donald Trump’s clip

The U.S. version of TikTok shows the text, “The copyright owner hasn’t made this sound available in your country,” per Variety. However, the timing of the removal brought the caption into focus, which said, “I’m sure @Taylor Swift is going to be super excited we used her song! #taylorswift #maga #august.” The clip featured Donald Trump and his third wife, Melania Trump, watching the fireworks from the balcony with the text, “Mood because it’s August and Donald Trump is your president.” The account, which was set up for the 2024 presidential elections, continues to post about the 80-year-old since he was elected for the second time. After ‘August’ was removed, many fans commented that Taylor was clearly not excited about Trump using her track. For the unversed, the ‘Only the Young’ singer openly endorsed Trump’s political rivals, former President Joe Biden and former Vice President Kamala Harris, in the previous elections.

‘August’ was not the first song that Taylor Swift red-flagged

This was not the first time Taylor Swift has reprimanded Team Trump for using her songs. Team Trump posted the President’s video with her song ‘Father Figure,’ which symbolises emotions of exploitative power dynamics, industry betrayal, and shifting control through lyrics. Swift removed the rights for the song in that video clip as well. In contrast, the White House’s use of ‘The Fate of Ophelia’ continues to garner views, and the song still plays.
