The second week of July brings an exciting line-up of South Indian films. From sports dramas and mythological adventures to dark comedies and intense industry-based stories, viewers have several fresh titles to choose from and let’s take a look at a few among them.

‘Peddi’

One of the week’s biggest digital premieres is ‘Peddi’, starring Ram Charan in the lead role. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the sports action drama will begin streaming on Netflix from July 9, including its Malayalam-dubbed version.Set in 1994, the story follows a talented young cricketer from a remote village in Andhra Pradesh as he battles social barriers while chasing his sporting dream. Alongside Ram Charan, the film stars Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu, Boman Irani, Ravi Kishan, Viji Chandrasekhar and Shruti Haasan in a cameo appearance.ETimes awarded the film 3 out of 5 stars. The review stated, “Buchi Babu Sana deserves credit for attempting to weave together themes of caste, aspiration and sportsmanship. While the film succeeds in highlighting the systemic challenges faced by marginalized communities, its treatment of female characters leaves much to be desired. Janhvi Kapoor’s character is largely reduced to a decorative presence. The normalization of a non-consensual kiss is another problematic aspect that feels outdated and unnecessary.”

‘Mollywood Times’ and ‘Sing Geetham’ join the streaming list

Currently available on Disney+ Hotstar, ‘Mollywood Times ‘stars Naslen as Vineeth Madhavan, an aspiring filmmaker determined to establish himself in the Malayalam film industry. Directed by Abhinav Sunder Nayak the film explores the struggles, compromises and harsh realities faced by newcomers trying to pursue their cinematic dreams.Meanwhile, veteran filmmaker Singeetam Srinivasa Rao returns with ‘Sing Geetham’. The film will premiere on Netflix on July 9, 2026. It marks the director’s 61st feature film and is set in the fictional kingdom of Kuberapura. The cast includes newcomers Ayaan, Ahilya Bamroo and Shalini Kondepudi, while Devi Sri Prasad has composed the music. Vijay Deverakonda also plays a cameo role in the film.

‘Parimala And Co.’

Family entertainer ‘Parimala And Co.’, starring Jayaram and Urvashi, is also making its digital debut this week. Directed by Pandiraaj, the black comedy thriller blends humour, suspense and emotional family moments. The film will start streaming on ZEE5 from July 10.
