‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ is riding high at the box office with no signs of slowing down. The film kicked off its theatrical run with a strong Rs 25 crore (approx) in India and has now edged close to the Rs 200 crore mark globally. For Rasika Dugal, this is a special milestone too, her first-ever film to join the Rs 100 crore club. Reacting to the achievement, she said, “It doesn’t happen too often and I feel grateful.”

In an interview with News18, she said, “After I do a piece of work, I never feel any pressure thinking of what the outcome will be. But for this one, I felt a sense of responsbility towards fans who’ve loyally followed us for eight years and given us so much love. I just wanted to make sure that woh khush hoke jaaye, par sirf woh nahi, aur bhi bahot log khush hoke gaye. I’m truly delighted. It has indeed been a very good week”.Known for building a rich body of work through streaming shows, Rasika admits she’s a little taken aback by the warmth a theatrical release is earning her. “If I can be on any screen, I’m grateful. But yes, there’s a certain aura of a theatre. One feels like all that we’ve been working towards for so many years is now being presented in this very romantic way. That idea is very thrilling,” she says.
Rasika Dugal on ‘Saanson Ki Mala Pe ’
One moment that thrilled her in particular was how ‘Saanson Ki Mala Pe’ was picturised on her, a fresh take that many felt added a layer of poetic beauty to the scene. “It’s so beautiful. The song makes everything come together in the most poetic way. Sanson Ki Mala is a song I’ve been hearing for so many years in Nusrat (Fateh Ali Khan) saab’s voice. But this one’s a beautiful rendition too. Just to have a song, which is popular and people have resonated with and have memories with, playing in a pivotal scene is too many things to hold on to,” she said.“This is something I’ve always desired but didn’t really work towards in that sense. I had thought ki agar mere saath aisa hua toh achcha ho jaaye aur woh ho gaya. To be in a film that has all the elements of what we’ve celebrated about Indian cinema for so many years is an experience I’m so grateful for,” Rasika states.

Set in the backdrop of a fierce power struggle in Purvanchal, ‘Mirzapur The Movie’ pits old rivals against each other once again in a high-stakes showdown. Adding to the chaos is a new, ruthless adversary from Jaisalmer, whose entry tests the loyalties of both the Tripathis and the Pandits. The film stars Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit, and Divyenndu as Munna Tripathi. Jitendra Kumar steps into the role of Bablu Pandit, taking over from Vikrant Massey, while Ravi Kishan plays the antagonist, Babban Babua.
