Rebel Wilson’s legal dispute with film producer Amanda Ghost has taken a new turn. New reports revealed that Wilson’s texts were shown in court, providing alleged proof of a smear campaign worth USD 110,000 against the movie producer. Here’s what we know so far about the matter.

Text messages about a smear campaign against Amanda Ghost revealed

PEOPLE recently reported that new documents have been filed in Rebel Wilson’s legal case, which reveal alleged proof of a smear campaign. The text messages show an exchange between crisis publicist Melissa Nathan, who quoted Rebel Wilson an amount of USD 110,000 for an “untraceable site.”A deposition was held on August 25, and the documents were verified by Melissa Nathan in relation to Amanda Ghost’s case against Rebel Wilson and multiple other people. The exchange between Nathan and Wilson happened on August 5, 2024, which started with the crisis publicist asking Wilson, “Are you on Signal?” The actress then replied by saying that she was not, to which Nathan then sent Wilson a message about the proposed cost of an “untraceable site.” This included a “satellite, ghost server, ghost hosting, full build, maintaining, and full algorithmic push across all platforms… for 3 months.” Wilson then replied by saying, “Wait—do you mean only $110 in total?” to which the publicist said, “110,000. Sorry! Huge difference.”During an earlier deposition, Wilson claimed in court that she did not understand what Nathan meant by the phrase “untraceable site.” According to the documents, she stated, “I’m not sure of what an untraceable site means. I don’t recall sending or receiving these texts. I may have.”On August 25, Wilson’s lawyer called Ghost’s filings “one-sided.” They added, “Today’s motion filed by Amanda Ghost is, by its very nature, one-sided and thus incomplete,” Thompson said. “This case is in active litigation and involves thousands of documents and a large number of witnesses. Although we would love to comment in substance to the allegations, California ethical rules limit this.”Wilson also clarified that she never paid for any form of website, contrary to the text messages.
