The 55-year-old actor Matt Damon has been quite candid about his life for the past couple of years. As he rode the success of ‘The Odyssey,’ the actor opened up about changes in his life after turning 50, noting that things are much clearer now and he has been living a fulfilling life lately.
Matt Damon talks about life after 50
The famed actor recently opened up about how life changed for him after celebrating his milestone 50th birthday six years ago. While talking to PEOPLE, the actor shared that growing older has forced him to recalibrate his priorities and provided him with some much-needed clarity in life.He added, “You get on the other side of 50, and at least for me, I really started feeling like time is the most precious commodity there is. I just want to be intentional with what I do with it and make sure that I’m spending it exactly where I want to spend it.” He also shared that he now has three main priorities in life: “my family and work,” as well as his non-profit organisation that provides clean water to those stricken with poverty.For the unversed, Damon and his wife, Luciana Barroso, share four daughters: Alexia (27), Isabella (20), Gia (17), and Stella (15). While talking about his family, he shared that, “Having two older kids who are out of the nest and knowing how fast these final years go, we’re trying to be mindful of holding onto what we can.” He also shared that he wants his film company to grow as well, which he co-founded with his close friend, Ben Affleck.
Matt Damon admits that he has calmed down in his life
The actor revealed that things have slowed down for him quite a bit after he turned 50 years old. He added, “That’s a very full life. I feel like I’ve calmed down a little bit and I’m not chasing something. I just want to do work that I think is really stellar on my own terms and on things that I really believe in.”He also added that as he grows older, a lot of things are now out of his control, which is something that he has had to come to terms with. Damon shared that, “I just try to think about what I can control and what I can’t. Instead of railing against the gods about things that I can’t control.”
