King Charles’s heartfelt tribute to Dolly Parton
Taking to the royal family’s Instagram account, a day after her passing, shared a video from Buckingham Palace of the Band of the Coldstream Guards. In the video, as a special tribute to Parton, the band was seen playing their own version of one of her most famous songs, ‘9 to 5,’ which was released all the way back in 1980.The song was played by the band specifically during the Changing of the Guard ceremony that took place on August 26. The video was posted along with the heartfelt message from the royal family: “Remembering the late, great Dolly, who brought joy, comfort, and inspiration to so many—including the millions of children given free books through her Imagination Library. We will always (love) you.”Imagination Library, which was mentioned in the caption of the post, was one of the many initiatives that Parton dedicatedly worked for. She started it as a book-gifting program to mail free and age-appropriate books every month to children from birth to age five. The literary initiative was started in 1995, and over the years, she often credited her father, Robert Lee Parton, as one of the main inspirations behind it.On the official website, she shared, “Before he passed away, my daddy told me the Imagination Library was probably the most important thing I had ever done. I can’t tell you how much that meant to me because I created the Imagination Library as a tribute to my Daddy. He was the smartest man I have ever known, but I know in my heart his inability to read probably kept him from fulfilling all of his dreams.”She continued, “Inspiring kids to love to read became my mission. In the beginning, my hope was simply to inspire the children in my home county, but here we are today with a worldwide program.”
