Inside Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey' filming locations

Christopher Nolan has built his entire career on the belief that the real world is more cinematic than anything a screen can generate, and ‘The Odyssey’ takes that philosophy further than any film he has made before. Shooting across six countries with large-format theatrical cameras and no green screens, Nolan took Homer’s ancient epic and found its landscapes alive and waiting in the real world. At CinemaCon in April, he described the experience as “an absolute nightmare to film, but in all the right ways,” adding, “we went all over the world to make this film because this is The Odyssey. You’ll be pleased to hear how difficult it was for us because it’s meant to be difficult. That’s the nature of the story.” Here is every major location the production visited.
