For Hilary Duff, property has become more than a collection of impressive addresses. Over two decades, the actor, singer and former Disney star has steadily built a real estate portfolio around privacy, family life and homes that evolve with her. At the centre of it is a Beverly Hills farmhouse she bought in 2010, a property that has since undergone two major transformations and grown into an unconventional family retreat. Today, the 5,260-square-foot home combines polished interiors with playful details, including a swimming pool, custom waterslide, chicken coop and dedicated spaces for children, claims an online report by Real Estate.
From teen star to property owner
According to Realtor, Duff’s real estate journey began remarkably early. At 17, while still at the height of her Lizzie McGuire fame, she bought a gated Mediterranean-style mansion in Toluca Lake in 2004 for $3.5 million. The roughly 10,000-square-foot property offered the kind of privacy and scale expected of a young celebrity, with a library, billiard room, wine cellar, gym, swimming pool and landscaped grounds. Its location also placed Duff close to major Los Angeles entertainment studios. She eventually listed the home for $7 million in 2010 and sold it two years later for $6.5 million, marking a substantial gain on her original purchase, adds the online report.
The Beverly Hills farmhouse
According to Real Estate report, Duff’s next major move came in 2010, when she paid $3.85 million for a Georgian-style farmhouse in The Summit, an exclusive gated community in Beverly Hills.Unlike her earlier mansion, the home was designed around a more intimate family lifestyle. High hedges and a secluded setting offered privacy, while the interiors gave Duff room to put her own stamp on the property. The report explains that it followed two major renovations. The once-dated residence was transformed with colourful design choices, a blush-toned front door, bold kitchen cabinetry, patterned tiles and large openings connecting indoor and outdoor areas, adds the report.
Where luxury meets family life
The Beverly Hills property has gradually become a family compound rather than a conventional celebrity residence. A swimming pool is complemented by a custom waterslide, while a chicken coop brings an unexpectedly rural touch to the gated estate.Inside, a nursery mural adds personality, while a custom loft featuring a Ninja Warrior-style net creates a dedicated play area for Duff’s children, adds the Real Estate report as well.
A portfolio built beyond Los Angeles
Duff’s property interests have extended beyond California. She has also been linked to Atelier Condominiums in New York’s Hell’s Kitchen, giving her a base in Manhattan. Across her various purchases, a pattern emerges: privacy, security and practicality appear to matter as much as prestige. Her properties have tended to provide room to work, raise a family and retreat from public life.Image Courtesy: Instagram/hilaryduff
