Marvel’s ‘Avengers Endgame: Encore’ is off to a promising start at the Indian box office, with the re-release looking to put up a strong opening weekend and compete with the ongoing runs of ‘The Paradise’ and ‘Hanuman Ansh’.
‘Avengers Endgame: Encore’ box office Day 1
According to early box office estimates, ‘Avengers Endgame: Encore’ has collected a net Rs 1 crore in India on Friday, from around 600 shows early morning shows. This takes its current India gross collection to an estimated Rs 1.17 crore, while final figures for the day are expected to rise.According to Sacnilk, ‘Avengers Endgame: Encore’ has recorded Rs 17.24 crore in advance bookings across seven show dates, including Rs 13.74 crore excluding blocked seats. Friday, September 25, is currently leading with Rs 6.50 crore in advance bookings. As per reports, numbers are expected to rise with spot bookings and hype around the film for its link to the next big MCU film ‘Avengers: Doomsday’.
‘Avengers Endgame: Encore’ box office break down
For Day 1, Maharashtra has emerged as the top-performing state with Rs 1.02 crore, accounting for 16% of the gross, followed by Delhi with Rs 96.58 lakh and Tamil Nadu with Rs 88.06 lakh. Among cities, the National Capital Region leads with Rs 96.58 lakh, followed by Bengaluru at Rs 78.41 lakh and Mumbai at Rs 68.65 lakh.English screenings account for 77% of the Day 1 gross, with Rs 5 crore generated from 1,866 shows. Hindi contributes 13%, while Telugu accounts for 7% and Tamil for 3%.
‘Avengers Endgame: Encore’ to battle ‘The Paradise’ and ‘Hanuman Ansh’
The re-release is also competing with ‘The Paradise’, which is currently running across 813 shows and has recorded a net collection of Rs 62 lakh from its morning shows. However, the film had an early start at the box office with preview shows on Wednesday. Its India collection currently stands at an estimated Rs 46.87 crore net and Rs 55.63 crore gross.‘Endgame: Encore’ will also be looking to compete with ‘Hanuman Ansh’, which has reportedly collected an estimated Rs 10.50 crore on Day 36, its sixth Friday at the box office.
‘Avengers Endgame: Encore’ to rank among highest earning re-release
The Marvel film’s strong advance sales could also see it enter the list of India’s highest-grossing theatrical re-releases. ‘Baahubali: The Epic’ currently leads that list with a reported collection of Rs 49.8 crore. It is followed by ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ with around Rs 41 crore, ‘Tumbbad’ with an estimated Rs 40 crore from its re-run, ‘Ghilli’ with Rs 26.25 crore and ‘Sholay’, which rounds out the top five with an estimated Rs 11 crore haul.With the original ‘Endgame: Encore’ returning to cinemas ahead of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, particularly as it features new scenes that link the film directly to the upcoming film and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ that marks the end of the Multiverse saga.
