Stressing the importance of consent, the actor said images featuring an individual should not be manipulated using AI without their knowledge or permission. Taking to X (previously Twitter), Yami Gautam made a “sincere request” to the media, asking publications and photographers to use her photographs in their original form. The actor specifically objected to the use of AI tools to alter or enhance her appearance without her consent.Yami wrote, “A sincere request to the media. Please refrain from using AI to alter or enhance my photographs from public appearances. Kindly use images in their original form. Altering or manipulating an individual’s image or likeness using AI should not be done without their knowledge and consent. Thank you in advance for respecting my request!”

Yami’s statement comes shortly after the controversy surrounding an AI-manipulated video involving Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor from their ‘Chuttamalle’ song in ‘Devara: Part 1’. The digitally altered content drew strong condemnation from Jr NTR, who warned that legal action would be taken against those responsible for creating and circulating it.Vijay Deverakonda and Chiranjeevi also expressed their support for action against the misuse of AI. Chiranjeevi called for stronger mechanisms to help those affected by such content, including greater coordination with cybercrime authorities and steps to facilitate the removal of manipulated material.

On the work front, Yami Gautam is set to headline ‘Nayyi Navelli’, a film that combines fantasy, family drama, dark humour and elements of Indian folklore. The trailer introduces her as Mohini, a model bride who enters a lively household in Meerut and initially wins over the family through her charm and culinary skills.The story subsequently takes a supernatural turn, with folklore and dark fantasy becoming central to the narrative. Yami is set to play a daayan in the film, marking a departure from several of her recent roles.

‘Nayyi Navelli’ is directed by Balaji Mohan and written by Himanshu Sharma and Divy Nidhi Sharma. Aanand L Rai and Sharma are producing the film under the Colour Yellow banner, marking the production house’s first collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios.GV Prakash Kumar has composed the music for the project.
