Why are New Zealand making multiple changes to their squad after India defeat?

New Zealand have made several changes to their squad for the remaining matches of the T20I series against India. The team will rotate its fast bowlers to manage their workload during a busy international season.Lockie Ferguson and Matt Henry will miss the third T20I as part of the plan. Ferguson will return for the fourth and fifth matches, while Henry will begin preparations for the upcoming ODI series.

Ferguson to return for last two T20Is

Ferguson will travel to Auckland on Sunday and rejoin the squad for the fourth and fifth T20Is at Eden Park and Seddon Park, respectively.Henry, meanwhile, will stay in Christchurch before joining New Zealand’s ODI squad in Auckland on November 2.Kyle Jamieson will also miss part of the T20I series. He will remain in Wellington after the third match at Henry Stadium on Tuesday and play for Canterbury in the second round of the Ford Trophy at the Cello Basin Reserve on October 31. He will then rejoin the national team for the ODI series.

Tickner and Clarkson join the squad

Blair Tickner will join New Zealand’s T20I squad in Wellington for the final three matches of the series. Josh Clarkson will link up with the team in Auckland for the last two games.Matt Fisher will travel with the squad to Wellington as cover for the third T20I. He will return to the New Zealand A squad at Lincoln University on Wednesday. The changes will give New Zealand more options with their fast bowlers as they manage their fitness across formats.

Coach Walter backs squad depth

New Zealand head coach Rob Walter said the team had enough depth to rotate players while preparing for a packed schedule.“It’s been a competitive start to the T20 series with two close games and plenty more cricket to come,” Walter said.“We’re very fortunate with the depth in the squad to be able to call upon different players to help manage our pacers’ workloads, and to try and ensure they’re best placed to perform for the team for all the cricket coming up,” he added.New Zealand will look to make the most of their squad depth as they continue the T20I series against India before turning their attention to the ODI matches.
