Siddhant Chaturvedi and Tamannaah Bhatia starrer V Shantaram biopic has not been shelved, despite months of uncertainty over its shooting schedule. Director Abhijeet Shirish Deshpande has confirmed that the much-awaited film has been pushed to 2027, with the makers now planning to begin filming in April. The biopic, which will see Chaturvedi portray legendary filmmaker V. Shantaram, was originally expected to go on floors in April 2026 but faced scheduling delays that disrupted the production timeline.
V. Shantaram biopic director addresses shelving rumours
The biopic was officially announced in December, with ‘Dhadak 2’ actor Siddhant Chaturvedi playing the titular role, while Tamannaah Bhatia later joined as Shantaram’s second wife, actress Jayashree. Produced by Rahul Kiran Shantaram, Subhash Kale and Sarita Ashwin Varde, the film was originally scheduled to go on floors in April 2026. However, with no shoot happening even four months later, speculation grew that the project may have been shelved.In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, director Abhijeet Shirish Deshpande dismissed these rumours. The filmmaker revealed, “We had initially planned an April shoot and planned to go indoors after rains. But we were delayed by two months, and then the whole schedule went haywire. Now with the fresh dates, we are planning to shoot next year with a few more big names in the casting apart from Sidharth and Tamannaah.”

As per the report, the makers are now aiming to begin shooting in April 2027. The revised plan has been structured so that outdoor sequences are completed first, followed by interior shoots during the monsoon period.

He wasn’t just a pioneer of Indian and global cinema, he was a visionary who kept pushing forward no matter the obstacles.”He added, “Stepping into his world has been my most transformative experience as an actor. His life moved me deeply and reminded me of the power of perseverance. It’s a lesson I hope to hold close, both in my work and in every moment of my life.”
