Wagner Moura is in talks to join Margot Robbie and Bradley Cooper in Warner Bros.’ upcoming ‘Ocean’s Eleven’ prequel. The Brazilian actor is being considered for the movie’s main villain, although the studio has not revealed details about his character. Cooper will direct, write, produce and star in the untitled heist film, while Robbie will star and produce through her LuckyChap company. Production is scheduled to begin in France in late July.

The Hollywood Reporter first reported Moura’s negotiations, adding that filming will start in Paris before moving to the south of France. Warner Bros. has scheduled the film for release on June 25, 2027.If Moura closes the deal, he will follow several well-known actors who played antagonists across the franchise. Andy Garcia portrayed casino owner Terry Benedict in 2001’s ‘Ocean’s Eleven.’ Vincent Cassel joined ‘Ocean’s Twelve’ as master thief François Toulour, while Al Pacino played casino developer Willy Bank in ‘Ocean’s Thirteen.’Moura recently earned an Academy Award nomination for his performance in ‘The Secret Agent.’ His other credits include Netflix’s ‘Narcos,’ Alex Garland’s ‘Civil War,’ ‘Dope Thief’ and the ‘Elite Squad’ films.The actor is also working with Kristen Stewart on A24’s vampire thriller ‘Flesh of the Gods.’ Panos Cosmatos is directing that project.

Margot Robbie reveals Monaco Grand Prix heist

Robbie previously shared the first major details of the story during CinemaCon 2026. She confirmed that she and Cooper will play Danny Ocean’s parents, the thief portrayed by George Clooney in Steven Soderbergh’s trilogy.“Before Danny Ocean ever stepped foot in Vegas, two masterminds taught him everything he knows: His parents,” Robbie said. “You’ll see them in their prime, and in our new movie, pulling off an epic heist at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix.”Cooper wrote the current screenplay based on characters created by George Clayton Johnson and Jack Golden Russell. Carrie Solomon worked on earlier drafts.Robbie, Cooper and Tom Ackerley are producing the prequel. Josey McNamara, Bronte Payne, Bobby Wilhelm, Jay Roach, Michelle Graham, Lee Isaac Chung, Ashley Jay Sandberg, Gary Ross and Olivia Milch serve as executive producers.The movie will mark the franchise’s first release since the Sandra Bullock-led ‘Ocean’s 8’ arrived in 2018.
