‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, starring Tom Holland and Zendaya in lead roles, continued its strong run at the Indian box office despite facing fresh competition from Hindi releases ‘Awarapan 2’ and ‘Batwara 1947’.The superhero film witnessed a slight dip in collections on its third Sunday, earning an estimated Rs 8.75 crore net, according to early estimates reported by Sacnilk. The film’s estimated gross collection for the day stood at approximately Rs 10.49 crore.

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ records Rs 22.80 crore third weekend haul

After opening its third week on a watered down note, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ showed a significant improvement over the weekend.The film collected an estimated Rs 3.90 crore net on its third Friday, followed by a strong jump on Saturday, when it earned approximately Rs 10.15 crore. On Sunday, the film added another Rs 8.75 crore, taking its three-day third-weekend total to approximately Rs 22.80 crore net. Meanwhile, the film’s third-weekend gross total stayed at an estimated Rs 27.33 crore.

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ vs ‘Awarapan 2’ and ‘Batwara 1947’

The film’s ability to cross the Rs 25 crore gross mark over its third weekend is notable, considering that the film entered its third week with two major Hindi releases. Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani-starrer ‘Awarapan 2’ and Sunny Deol’s ‘Batwara 1947’ arrived in cinemas on the same weekend and closed its debut weekend run with an estimated Rs 98 crore and Rs 31.61 crore, respectively.Despite the increased competition, the Marvel release managed to maintain its grip over the box office and cling to third place.

India gross collection crosses Rs 550 crore

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ had already taken the lead during its first two weeks of its release. The film recorded an estimated Rs 334.75 crore net in Week 1, followed by approximately Rs 108.65 crore net in Week 2.With its third-weekend earnings, the film’s India net collection has now climbed to an estimated Rs 466.20 crore.Its India gross collection has also crossed the Rs 550 crore mark, reaching approximately Rs 557.41 crore gross, according to the latest estimates.

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ strengthens all-time Hollywood record in India

With its India gross now at around Rs 557 crore, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has further cemented its position as the highest-grossing Hollywood film in India. The superhero film has moved well ahead of previous record-holders ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’, which grossed approximately Rs 477 crore in India, and ‘Avengers: Endgame’, which collected around Rs 445 crore gross in the country.The film maintains its hold over the box office, it could just go on to hit the Rs 600 crore mark in India.

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ global box office

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ continued to cast its sticky web around audiences three weekends into its historic run. The Sony Pictures release added another USD 70 million from theaters in the U.S. and Canada, bringing its domestic total to a staggering USD 785.8 million, making it the fourth biggest domestic release ever. With USD 118.7 million from overseas markets, it surpassed USD 2 billion globally, only the 8th movie ever to achieve that landmark (not accounting for inflation) and the second-fastest to do so. ‘Avengers: Endgame’ hit the milestone in 11 days in 2019 while ‘Brand New Day’ took about 18 days to cross the mark.
