Brothers Ben Affleck and Casey Affleck recently attended the 83rd Venice Film Festival together with their family. During one of their speeches at the festival, the two revealed that their father, Timothy ‘Tim’ Byers Affleck, passed away earlier this year. The shocking news comes more than a month after the Afflecks confirmed their mother, Christopher Anne ‘Chris’ Affleck, had passed away.
Ben Affleck and Casey Affleck’s father passes away
During one of his speeches at the Venice Film Festival, Casey Affleck revealed that they had also lost their father, Timothy ‘Tim’ Byers Affleck, earlier this year. The actor had been sitting for a press conference for his film ‘Company,’ which had its premiere at the festival, when he shared the news with the world.Page Six reported that he shared during the interview: “It’s dedicated to my parents because I lost both my mom and my dad this year, and they were very important to me.” He later added, “I really wanted to show this movie to them, and I didn’t get to. I think they would have liked it.” Their mother, Christopher ‘Chris’ Anne Affleck, passed away earlier this year in June after battling pancreatic cancer for six months. She was 83 years old at the time of her passing.Casey Affleck has directed, co-written, and starred in his latest film, ‘Company,’ which also features his children, Indiana Affleck, 22, and Atticus Affleck, 18.

While neither of the brothers clarified as to when their father passed away, Timothy was born on March 21, 1950. He used to work as an actor and aspiring playwright in his early years in the industry before he started struggling with alcoholism. Later on he started taking on a string of jobs to make ends meet. After he got sober in 1990, he settled in California and turned his life around, working as a counsellor at an alcohol rehabilitation centre. While talking about his father’s recovery in 2020 to PEOPLE, the ‘Good Will Hunting’ star had commented, “Part of being an adult is learning that your parents are just people. They’re not perfect. They were just doing their best.”Chris and Timothy had separated and filed for divorce when their children were still young.
