Amaal Mallik, the singer-composer, has removed a string of explosive posts he’d previously shared calling out fellow music composer Tanishk Bagchi. He was quick to clarify, though, that taking the posts down doesn’t signal any retraction of his allegations, saying he was simply looking to clean up the “garbage” cluttering his social media timeline.
Amaal Mallik on staying silent for a decade
In a fresh statement posted on X on July 26, Amaal made it clear he wasn’t withdrawing his statements, but simply archiving the posts. He explained that this decision stemmed from “a place of clarity” and maintained that he had already “done the needful.” The singer further claimed he had held his silence for close to ten years before finally choosing to speak up. “It has taken a lot of patience, of almost 10 years to keep my anger held inside. Today after a decade, I had to stand up… because no one wants to stand up for the right thing,” he wrote, going on to allege that he had decided to expose what he called the “scums” of the music industry.
Amaal Mallik’s warning to Tanishk Bagchi
Amaal claimed he had brought to light the “truth” about “a very bad man,” expressing confidence that karma would ultimately catch up. He also had a pointed warning for Tanishk, writing in Hindi, “Bete, mujhse toh aukaat mein hi rehna,”(Son, you’d better stay within your limits with me.) which he described as a “life long warning.” He added that should he come across any further wrongdoing down the line, he wouldn’t hesitate to speak up once more.
Amaal Mallik’s earlier allegations against Tanishk Bagchi
Prior to this, Amaal had leveled accusations against Tanishk, claiming he copied music and passed off others’ work as his own. He also alleged being threatened through the invocation of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis‘ name, and further claimed that Tanishk had emotionally abused and misled a woman under the pretense of marrying her.
Tanishk Bagchi yet to respond
As of now, there’s been no public reaction from either Tanishk Bagchi or his team to Amaal Mallik’s latest remarks.
