Stock market today: BSE Sensex plunges over 500 points; Nifty50 below 24,290 as renewed Middle East conflict rattles markets

Equity markets head into Wednesday with global developments taking centre stage after crude oil prices jumped nearly 3% in early trade following US military strikes on Iran, reviving concerns over disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.

Back home, Sensex ended Tuesday 104.35 points lower at 78,180.72, while Nifty50 slipped 31.65 points to 24,398.70, with gains in IT stocks offset by weakness in realty and metals.

Investors will track the market’s reaction to rising oil prices alongside the US Federal Reserve’s meeting minutes, the start of the Q1 earnings season, FII flows after a net purchase of Rs 393.19 crore, and rupee’s movement after it strengthened to 94.96 against the US dollar in the previous session.

Together, these factors are expected to shape the direction of stock market in the days ahead. Track TOI’s coverage on BSE Sensex and Nifty50 to know which way stock markets are headed:
