Looking back on her childhood, Rumer Willis opened up about what it was like to grow up with Bruce Willis and Demi Moore as her parents and the kind of lessons she learned from them. During one of our latest promotional events, the actress opened up about what it was like to grow up with two of the biggest stars in Hollywood. She even revealed that both Willis and Moore made sure that she had a childhood filled with “magic and whimsy.” Read ahead to learn more about what she had to share.

Rumer Willis recently gave fans and netizens a glimpse into what it was like for her to grow up in a Hollywood home. While talking to PEOPLE about being the Global Ambassador for an at-home hormone brand, the actress shared that she learned a lot of values and lessons from her parents from an early age that she wishes to teach her 3-year-old daughter Louetta.Adding more context, she shared, “I think the things that I really wanto to help support her with, that I feel like can just get lost in the mix, are what my parents always taught me that to have respect. It wasn’t just that they told me to have respect, but the way they modeled it without even saying it.”Adding to it, she revealed that since she grew up on the set with her parents, she was able to be a part of their life on a regular basis, and would always observe how they would treat everyone around them. She added, “I grew up on set, so both of my parents, no matter who it was, always said ‘Hi,’ were unbelievably gracious, made sure to meet everybody, and treated everyone with the same level of respect. And that’s something that, as an adult, I have seen not occur in different arenas of my life. There shouldn’t be a hierarchy, and no matter what job you have, you should treat everybody with respect.”

She also shared that one of the main aspects of their childhoods came from the fact that neither Willis nor Moore ever wanted to push their children in any specific direction. For the unversed, Rumer has two sisters: Scout, who is 35, and Tallulah, who is 32.She added more context and shared that, “They let us wear whatever we wanted to school and let us be weird. Just whimsy and magic and so much silliness. I remember my sisters licking my face when I was a little kid and my dad doing silly stuff. There would be kids on vacation being silly with their siblings, and the parents would be like, ‘Ew, that’s so gross,’ but they’re just being silly kids.”She concluded her statement, sharing that “I think it’s so important to let kids be kids and let them discover the world. That’s something I’m so grateful to my parents for.”Willis and Moore divorced and officially parted ways in 2000; however, over the years, the two of them remained close friends and kept up with one another. As of right now, Willis has retired after he was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia. He currently lives in a separate home from his family, with round-the-clock care available for him, along with frequent visits from his family and friends.
