‘Spaceballs: The New One’ has sparked enthusiasm among fans, as the lead star Rick Moranis makes his return after stepping out of the entertainment industry in 1991 to look after his children, Rachel and Mitchell. He bid farewell to the screens and cameras after his wife, Ann Belsky, passed away after battling breast cancer. After his last appearance in ‘Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves’ in 1997, he took up various voice-acting roles over the years, per PEOPLE.

Describing how the idea for the sequel came along, Rick’s co-star Josh Gad revealed that they originally wanted to discuss a reboot of the ‘Honey, I Shrunk the Kids’ film. “The truth is that I had to say yes to this thing. It was the only way I could get Josh Gad to stop texting me,” Moranis claimed at the panel, before adding, “We kept talking about it. I really wasn’t retired; I was just negotiating. But no, this came along right at the right time, and I started talking to these folks and hearing who was going to be in it.”

About ‘Spaceballs: The New One’

Directed by Josh Greenbaum, the ‘Spaceballs: The New One’ cast includes Rick Moranis, Josh Gad, Keke Palmer, Lewis Pullman, Bill Pullman, Mel Brooks, George Wyner, and Daphne Zuniga. The sci-fi film will hit theatres on April 23, 2027.
