Prabhas reveals 'Baahubali' success cost him years of sleep: 'Those were the most stressful years of my life'

Prabhas has opened up about the emotional burden that followed the phenomenal success of ‘Baahubali.’ Though ‘Baahubali’ made him a star of Pan-India fame, the actor acknowledged that the period after its release was not easy for him. While talking in the documentary ‘Baahubali – The Torchbearer,’ Prabhas said the movie totally transformed the magnitude of his work, making every future project very important to him. He described the period as one of the toughest phases of his professional journey.

Prabhas says ‘Baahubali’ success left him sleepless for years

Recalling the pressure of choosing his next film, Prabhas said, “I couldn’t sleep properly for two or three years after ‘Baahubali.’ The level of responsibility in every department suddenly increased a thousandfold. Those were the most stressful years of my life after ‘Baahubali’.” He explained that the team explored several ideas before finalising his next projects. “We wondered what should come next. Should it be another grand visual film like ‘Baahubali’ or something completely different? We discussed screenplay-driven stories, a love story, and even had conversations with Prashanth Neel and Nag Ashwin,” he revealed.

‘Baahubali’ opened the doors to bigger films and bigger budgets

Prabhas also credited ‘Baahubali’ for changing the financial landscape of his career. He pointed out that Saaho collected around Rs 26 crore in North India on its opening day, something he believes happened only because of the goodwill created by ‘Baahubali.’ The actor said the blockbuster made it possible to mount high-budget films like ‘Saaho,’ ‘Radhe Shyam,’ ‘Salaar,’ and ‘Kalki 2898 AD.’ Before ‘Baahubali,’ he explained, most of his films were made on budgets ranging between Rs 20 crore and Rs 40 crore.

Actor grateful for the blockbuster that reshaped his journey

Looking back, Prabhas said the stress eventually led to bigger opportunities that defined the next phase of his career. He described Baahubali as the foundation that made ambitious films like ‘Salaar’ and ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ possible. Both ventures were commercial hits, further cementing his reputation as one of India’s biggest stars. The pressure post ‘Baahubali’ mentally took a toll on Prabhas, but he feels the film opened doors to all his future successes.
