Veteran actor Mushtaq Khan‘s prayer meet is being held in Mumbai today, September 30, days after his demise on September 24 following a battle with cancer. Several actors and colleagues from the film industry attended the gathering to pay their respects and remember the late actor, who remained a familiar face in Hindi cinema for several decades.
Actors gather to remember Mushtaq Khan
The prayer meet saw several of Mushtaq Khan’s friends and industry colleagues come together to honour his memory. Mukesh Rishi, Rahul Roy, Ramesh Goyal, Rajpal Yadav, Vindu Dara Singh, Kiran Kumar, Ehsaan Qureshi, Sulbha Arya, Akhilendra Mishra, K K Goswami, Dilip Sen, Ali Khan, Rakhi Sawant, Gajendra Chauhan, Anang Desai, Sunil Pal, Anjjan Shrivastav, Upasana Singh, Shahbaaz Khan, and Poonam Dhillon were among those who attended the gathering in Mumbai.
Mushtaq Khan passed away on September 24 at Nanavati Hospital after his health deteriorated following a cancer diagnosis. His son Mohsin Khan had revealed after the actor’s death that the cancer had initially been detected at an early stage but had progressed aggressively. The late actor had reportedly battled cancer earlier as well, before the disease returned in recent weeks.His funeral was held in Mumbai on September 25. Several members of the film fraternity, including Rajpal Yadav, Sanjay Mishra, Rajat Bedi, Annu Kapoor, Sulabha Arya and Ali Khan, attended his final farewell.
Raza Murad questions the absence of big stars at funeral
Following the funeral, veteran actor Raza Murad took to Instagram to express his disappointment over the absence of prominent Bollywood stars. Without naming any particular actor, Murad questioned why bigger names from the industry did not turn up to pay their last respects to Mushtaq.In his video, Murad said, “Afsoos baat yeh hai koi bhi star unhe apna aakhiri salaam pesh karne nahi aaya,” adding, “koi bada chehra nahi aaya.” He also questioned why people could not spare even 50 minutes to attend the funeral of an actor who had dedicated decades to the film industry.Murad further spoke about Mushtaq’s journey, saying that the late actor had made his place in the industry through his work and did not rely on flattery or influential connections to move ahead. His comments came after several industry colleagues attended the funeral, while many prominent Bollywood names were not seen there.

Mushtaq Khan enjoyed a career spanning several decades and became particularly recognisable for his supporting and comic roles. He was seen in films such as ‘Aashiqui’, ‘Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke’, ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’, ‘Welcome’, ‘Hera Pheri’, ‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’ and ‘Stree 2’, among several other projects. His role as Ballu in ‘Welcome’ was among his better-known comic performances.Through his extensive body of work across films and television, Mushtaq Khan left behind a distinctive legacy as a dependable character actor who could bring both humour and depth to supporting roles.
