Actor Manjari Fadnis has shared an emotional video alleging that some people in her housing society brutally killed a community dog named Mikey. The actor, known for her role in ‘Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na,’ said Mikey had lived in the society for years after being abandoned by his family. She broke down while speaking about his disappearance, the search by residents, and the alleged attack that followed.

According to India Today, Fadnis said Mikey had been part of the society since 2019 or 2020. She said residents started looking for him after he went missing. They made posters, put them up in the area, and spoke to security guards and others to find out where he had gone.In the video, Fadnis said, “I wish I never needed to make this video, but I think it’s really important.” She described Mikey as “a really sweet dog” and said residents kept searching for him.Fadnis alleged that someone from the society later confessed that Mikey was sleeping quietly near a basement area when he was hit on the head with a stick or an iron rod. She said he became disoriented after the attack. She also alleged that he was dragged to a staircase area between B1 and the lobby, beaten further, put inside a sack, and thrown in an empty area behind the building.The actor said she did not know whether Mikey survived. She added that residents were still trying to find his body.

Manjari Fadnis calls for stronger animal cruelty laws

Fadnis said people with “criminal minds” feel safe taking illegal steps against dogs they do not like, even when the animals are harmless and cared for by residents.Remembering Mikey, she said he was a long-haired dog whom residents often took home, bathed, groomed, and detangled. She recalled that he would run around happily after his bath. She ended that part of the video by saying, “He’s gone.”In her post, Fadnis said Mikey was brutally murdered and that they would fight for him. She also called for stronger animal cruelty laws and thanked Xavier Bernard Santiago, Sanket Kadam, and others who supported the fight for justice.India Today reported that Bhumi Pednekar, Vedika, and Dimple Hayathi were among the celebrities who expressed shock and condolences. Fadnis was last seen in ‘Pune Highway,’ which released in 2025.
