India among best markets globally: Cook

NEW DELHI: Apple posted a record June quarter in India, with CEO Tim Cook identifying the country among its best-performing markets globally.During the company’s earnings call, Cook said Apple achieved June-quarter revenue records across every geographic segment, including India, the US, China mainland, Japan, Southeast Asia, Latin America and Western Europe. The company also posted double-digit growth in most emerging markets.India also emerged as one of Apple’s strongest-performing Mac markets during the quarter. Chief financial officer Kevan Parekh said the Mac business generated a record $10.4 billion in global revenue, up 29% year-on-year, driven by the MacBook Neo and MacBook Pro. He said India recorded strong double-digit Mac growth and was among the markets where Mac had its best-ever quarter for both first-time buyers and customers upgrading from older devices. The comments reinforce India’s growing importance to Apple not only as a manufacturing base but also as one of its fastest-growing consumer markets, where the company continues to expand its premium product ecosystem.According to Counterpoint Research, Apple’s India performance was driven by strong MacBook Neo adoption, alongside continued demand for the iPhone 17 series, even as iPhone supplies remained constrained. The research firm expects Apple to post single-digit volume growth but double-digit value growth in India during calendar year 2026.
