Singer-songwriter Charlie Puth, 34, has cashed out on his Montecito home where he married the love of his life, Brooke Sansone. The 5,920-square-foot property was sold off-market for $18.5 million, The Real Deal reported. In nine years since the purchase, Charlie Puth has more than quadrupled his money on the Montecito estate. The deal closed in July but was only recently made public. The off-market nature of the sale means neither price negotiation nor competing bids are part of the public record, which is common in the high-end California real estate market.

Charlie Puth bought the property for $4.17 million

Charlie Puth purchased the Montecito property in 2017 for $4.17 million, when he was 25. The property holds quite the emotional weight for Puth. Just two years before the sale closed, he got married to Sansone. The couple exchanged vows on 7 September 2024, two years after they began dating. They grew up together in New Jersey. Their fathers attended elementary school together and reconnected years later. The couple earlier spoke about why they chose the Montecito mansion for the wedding. “We chose the Puth family residence because we just knew Montecito would offer the perfect backdrop,” the couple told Vogue.Sansone felt the home was the perfect setting for their union. “I wanted our wedding to marry tradition with modern unconventionality. I wanted each detail to feel relaxed yet perfectly, thoughtfully curated. Serving mini hot dogs on silver platters, for example, was more than just a fun detail. It was a reflection of my love for styles that blend the refined with the playful,” she told the publication.Nearly a decade after the purchase, Puth has sold the sprawling estate for more than four times that amount. The mansion was sold for $18.5 million. The buyer is a limited liability company tied to John Jarve, a partner at venture capital firm Menlo Ventures and founder of Sierra Point Capital, according to The Real Deal. Carolwood Estates’ Cameron Chesley and Shaun Alan Lee represented the seller, while Compass’ Gregoire & Beuoy Real Estate Group represented the buyer.

Inside the Montecito mansion

The Montecito mansion on 1421 Wyant Road was sold for $3,125 per square foot. Spanning 5,920 square feet, the gated estate offers a high degree of privacy. Surrounded by mature landscaping, the mansion has six bedrooms and seven bathrooms. The residence features hardwood flooring throughout, along with a spacious kitchen. The layout flows towards courtyards and gardens, a Montecito hallmark designed for both intimate gatherings and larger entertaining. There has been a boom in Montecito real estate in the past couple of years, driven by post-pandemic migration, celebrity acquisitions and a scarcity of available land. After the pandemic, there were several high-profile restaurant openings. The small town, which has fewer than 10,000 residents, has seen its real estate market outperform much of Southern California. The median home price in Montecito has climbed roughly 80% since 2019. Ellen DeGeneres flipped a villa in 2024 for a $32 million price tag. Oprah Winfrey sold off part of her sprawling compound to Adam Levine and Behati Prinsloo, who later listed their own Montecito estate for $65 million. For Puth, the portfolio moves are as much strategic. Over the past couple of years, he has juggled multiple California properties. Beyond the Montecito sale, he liquidated a Studio City property in May for $2.1 million, down from an initial asking price of $2.9 million. He had purchased that home in 2021 for $1.5 million. In October 2024, he sold his Trousdale Estates mansion in Beverly Hills to ‘Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles’ star Josh Flagg for $11 million. Puth had bought that residence in 2017 for $9 million.
