Rashmika Mandanna has established herself across the Telugu, Kannada, Tamil and Hindi film industries. However, the actor says her multilingual career was never something she consciously planned. Instead, she believes her journey across industries happened organically, with one project naturally leading to another.
Rashmika Mandanna opens up about her mother tongue Kodava Takk
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Rashmika spoke about her Kodava roots and explained why language has never been a barrier in her career.“I am a Kodava and speak Kodava Takk, we don’t have an industry for my mother tongue. So language has never been a barrier in my career. I treat all languages as my own. My fans, who I call my family, first suggested, ‘Why don’t you do a Telugu film?’ It was the same with Hindi, and that’s how my trajectory grew,” she said.The actor has subsequently worked across several major Indian film industries, building a pan-India career without limiting herself to one particular language.
Rashmika Mandanna responds to trolls criticising her accent
Asked whether comments from trolls about her accent bother her, Rashmika laughed off the criticism and said she does not consider herself particularly proficient in any one language.“I’m not necessarily good at any language, I’m a Jack of all trades and master of none,” she said.She further explained that her priority is being able to communicate with audiences in their respective languages and show them the respect they deserve.“As long as I can respond to questions posed in a particular language, it’s okay. That’s how I respect my audiences from different parts of the world,” she added.Rashmika also said she prefers not to get distracted by unnecessary criticism surrounding her accent. Instead, she remains focused on her work and on delivering the best possible performance.“As an actor, my job is to tell good stories on set and come back. With every film, I believe the best of us are there to create something magical. I stick to my job and the end result is a compilation of all these energies coming together. I don’t like stepping on someone’s toes, I just focus on giving my best performance as an actor,” she said.

Rashmika was recently in Chennai for the launch of the M. S. Subbulakshmi biopic, where she also spoke about her upcoming projects. The actor currently has two action thrillers in her lineup: ‘Ranabaali’, which she recently wrapped alongside her husband Vijay Deverakonda, and ‘Mysaa’, in which she takes on the lead role.
