While the residence was located in the fictional town of Stars Hollow in Connecticut, the real location is in Unionville, 20 miles northeast of Toronto, Canada. The initial scenes from season one were shot in the residence, and the post-pilot episodes were shot in a Los Angeles set.

The interior of the massive house contains a renovated kitchen, a living room equipped with a wet bar, a dining room, and a home office. Along with a charming entrance through a private deck, the house has an additional suite for guests with a bathroom. To top it all, the house possesses 19th-century interiors including three fireplaces, wood-beamed ceilings, wooden floors, and a red-brick chimney.Built in 1875, the ‘Gilmore Girls’ house has gabled roofs, a wraparound porch, white shutters, and a teal-painted clapboard. Overlooking the ravine, the three-bedroom property is surrounded by hedges. The current owner has owned the residence since 1994 and has used it for rental purposes.
