Why did Dolly Parton refuse a USD 7 million movie offer?

Dolly Parton had once been offered the role of the main antagonist in ‘Supergirl,’ and she was said to have been offered a whopping USD 7 million for it. However, Parton remained true to her wants and needs and outright refused the offer. In an old interview from 1997 with the Chicago Tribune, the singer shared details about how she was offered the role of a lifetime; however, she simply could not say yes to it.During the interview, she commented, “I will not play just an evil part. In fact, I got offered USD 7 million several years ago to play the part that Faye Dunaway played in Supergirl. I was kind of insulted. I was impressed with the money, but I said, ‘Why are you asking me to play an evil witch? Do I come across as an evil witch to you?’”The singer further commented on how she did not have any desire to play this kind of role, adding, “I’m sure I can be an evil witch at times. But that’s not my real nature, and I don’t have a desire to do anything like that.”For context, Parton was talking about being offered a role in the 1984 film ‘Supergirl,’ which was directed by Jeannot Szwarc and starred names like Helen Slater, Peter O’Toole, Hart Bochner, Brenda Vaccaro, and Mia Farrow, to name a few. Faye Dunaway played the role of the evil witch Selena in the film, the same role that was once offered to Parton.
