Dolly Parton and her partner, Carl Dean, purchased a mansion in the Hollywood Hills area in the 1980s. The home remained in their care until the 1990s, when they sold it. Although the home, famously dubbed ‘The Dolly Parton house,’ has been off the market for over two decades, recent reports indicate the property is officially on the real estate market.

Dolly Parton and Carl Dean’s former home is up for sale

According to listings from Edward Tinney of Nourmand & Associates and Kurt Rappaport of Westside Estate Agency, Parton and Dean’s former home, which they first purchased in 1985, is officially for sale. The couple bought the Hollywood Hills property for USD 750,000 then and stayed there until 1990. They sold it for USD 1.2 million, scoring a major profit compared to the purchase price. The property has not been listed for the past 25 years; however, it has now made its way to the real estate market, with an asking price of USD 7.95 million. While talking to Mansion Global about the house, Tinney shared, “When I first leased the house about 2002, it looked like a shrine. There was a purple carpet and pink walls and wig stands in the second bedroom, which was attached to the primary bedroom as a dressing room. So, between 1990 and 2001, no one had changed the home since Dolly and Carl lived there.”PropertyShark showed that the current owner, who has not been named in the listing, bought the property for USD 2.05 million in 2001. “I have leased the home four times since my client purchased it in 2001. I have always talked about Dolly’s ownership, but it did not seem to generate much interest,” Tinney added. He also mentioned, “Her recent, unfortunate death has been a significant factor in interest now. Our first open house this week was very busy, and people seem to really have focused on her ownership. It is like night and day.”
