Chris Rock, who first rose to fame for voicing Marty the Zebra in the animated ‘Madagascar’ films, opened up about how he does not have much left following his divorce. During one of his latest appearances, the actor joked about how he does not have much left to his name after his divorce settlement and later pleaded that there should be a fourth ‘Madagascar’ film and that he was willing to reprise his role in the movie.

The 61-year-old comedian and actor recently sat down for a video with Variety, where he put out a public appeal that there should be another installment of ‘Madagascar.’ He talked about how he played Marty’s role in the film, also naming out his co-star Ben Stiller and “two other people,” indirectly referring to his co-stars David Schwimmer and Jada Pinkett Smith.He further commented that it was “probably the biggest movie I’ve ever been in. We did three of them; I pray to God we do one more. In a world where they’re rebooting everything, let’s do Madagascar! I don’t know who I’m talking to. Do you understand I got divorced?” he said. “I don’t have Madagascar money anymore.”He then took examples of other successful animated franchises that came from the same production studio, including ‘Ice Age,’ which has a total of five films and spin-off series right now, along with ‘Toy Story,’ which recently released its last installment in the franchise. “Why can’t we figure this out?” he added, sharing that he is fully ready to reprise his role at any given point.

The animated franchise revolves around the plot of four Central Park Zoo animals, namely Marty the Zebra (Rock), Alex the Lion (Stiller), Gloria the Hippo (Pinkett Smith), and Melman the Giraffe (Schwimmer), as they set out on an adventure after surviving a shipwreck. They deal with the challenges of nature and how to fend for themselves amidst all the new animals they meet. Many other people starred in the films and gave life to the animated characters. This also included Sacha Baron Cohen, Andy Richter, Cedric the Entertainer, and many more.The first film was released in 2005, while the second one was released in 2008, titled ‘Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa,’ and the third film was released in 2012, called ‘Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted.’ Not only that, but the franchise also inspired a spin-off series and movie centric to the spy penguins and King Julien. These included ‘Penguins of Madagascar,’ ‘All Hail King Julien,’ ‘Merry Madagascar,’ and the latest, 2020’s ‘Madagascar: A Little Wild.’
