Rajpal Yadav on Rs 22 crore cheque-bounce case: ‘I am a worshipper of dialogue’ as Supreme Court sends matter to mediation and passport release is ordered

Rajpal Yadav has spoken about his cheque-bounce case and questioned the Rs 22 crore claim made against him. He thanked the Supreme Court for letting him present his side after 14 years and also raised doubts about the interest charged on the loan.

Rajpal Yadav thanks the Supreme Court

The case involves M/s Murli Projects Pvt Ltd. The Supreme Court has sent the matter to mediation and asked for his passport to be released, with suitable conditions. Speaking to news agency ANI, Yadav said he would follow whatever the court decides. “First of all, I would like to express my heartiest gratitude to the Honourable Supreme Court for giving me the privilege to present my side for the first time in 14 years. Whatever the Supreme Court orders, I will abide by it at all costs,” he told ANI.

Reaction to the ‘drama’ remark

Rajpal Yadav also responded to the court’s reported comment that “drama does not work in court”. “I have been acting for 42 years, so I’m well-fed on that!” he said. He added that anyone creating drama should be exposed.

Questions over the Rs 22 crore claim

The actor questioned the amount involved. “If this were a matter of Rs 5 crore, it could have been resolved. But the issue is of Rs 22 crore. After wiping out Rs 22 crore of mine, I am being accused… I am an actor of the public; I go among the people,” he said.He also asked whether M/s Murli Projects Pvt Ltd was allowed to give the loan in 2010 and whether it was a Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC). On interest, he asked, “Is there any law in India where a bank gives a loan at 12–15 per cent interest, while here the interest is 4 to 5 times over?”

Mediation and passport release

The Supreme Court referred the case to mediation after noting that Rajpal Yadav had obeyed its order to deposit money with the court registry. He deposited Rs 2 crore in two parts: Rs 1.15 crore on October 7 and Rs 85 lakh on October 13, 2026.The trial court has been told to release his passport with suitable conditions, so he can travel abroad for work. The case, however, is still on. Rajpal Yadav has challenged the Delhi High Court’s July 2026 order, which upheld his conviction and three-month sentence in seven cheque-bounce cases. That challenge is pending.

Rajpal Yadav says, ‘This fight will continue’

Rajpal Yadav said the legal fight has not shaken him. “They tried to snatch away everything from me, but they couldn’t snatch away our smile, our self-confidence, and our love,” he said.He added that he prefers talks but will not give up until the truth is out. He said, “I am a worshipper of dialogue. I will fight this battle through dialogue, but until the complete truth comes out, this fight will continue.”
