Filmmaker Aditya Dhar marked Raksha Bandhan by revisiting an emotional moment from his film ‘Dhurandhar’. Instead of sharing a personal photograph from the festival, the director posted a still featuring Ranveer Singh and his on-screen sister on his Instagram Stories on Friday, August 28, keeping the focus on the film’s sibling bond.

Sharing the still with his followers, Aditya Dhar kept the caption brief and heartfelt. “Happy RakshaBandhan!!” he wrote over the image.The picture shows Ranveer’s character in a checked shirt, gently holding the face of his on-screen sister Jasleen, whose head is covered with a dupatta, as the two share a visibly emotional moment.

‘Dhurandhar’ saw Ranveer Singh take on a role markedly different from much of his earlier work. Aditya Dhar mounted the project as a large-scale action drama, placing Ranveer at the centre of a violent, politically charged narrative. The actor also underwent a major physical transformation for the role, sporting a rugged new look.The film featured a large ensemble cast and brought together elements of action, espionage, personal loyalties and family relationships surrounding Ranveer’s character. ‘Dhurandhar’ eventually expanded into a two-part franchise, becoming one of the biggest projects of both Ranveer Singh’s and Aditya Dhar’s careers.

The film marked Ranveer Singh’s first collaboration with Aditya Dhar, who had previously directed ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’. Their partnership generated significant buzz from the moment it was announced, largely because of the film’s scale and Ranveer’s transformation for the role.The film featured Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Rakesh Bedi and Sara Arjun. It went on to earn more than Rs 1,300 crore at the worldwide box office after its theatrical release in December 2025.The second instalment, ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, reportedly grossed more than Rs 1,800 crore globally. The film arrived in theatres in March this year.
