Veteran actress Raadhika Sarathkumar once again proved the dedication that has kept her connected to cinema for decades. A recent behind-the-scenes story from the sets of ‘Vishwanath and Sons’ has brought to light a deeply emotional moment involving the actress and her late mother, Geetha Radha.In an interview hosted by Sithara Entertainments, director Venky Atluri alongside cast members Suriya and Mamitha Baiju reflected on an emotional moment from their time working on the project. Speaking about the incident, Raadhika revealed that she was shooting a comedy sequence when she received the heartbreaking news that her mother had passed away. Around 85% of the scene had already been completed, leaving only a few shots remaining.As reported by The Indian Express, Raadhika recalled, “85% of the scene was done. Only five shots were left. It was impossible to recreate the scene later. I came to the shoot when my mother was in the hospital. I knew it was a critical time, but she said, ‘No, go shoot.'”Following her mother’s wish, she chose to complete the remaining portions of the scene before leaving the set. The contrast between her personal grief and the light-hearted nature of the scene reportedly left the entire team stunned.

Suriya and Mamitha Baiju praise Raadhika’s commitment to cinema

The incident also deeply affected Raadhika’s co-stars Suriya and Mamitha Baiju. Mamitha recalled a conversation she had with Raadhika just a day before the shoot, where she got a glimpse of how close the actress was to her mother. She said, “The day before, when she was talking to me, I got to know how attached she was to her mother.” Watching Raadhika perform the comedy scene shortly after receiving such tragic news left Mamitha at a loss for words.Suriya, too, praised the veteran actress for her extraordinary commitment to her craft. He said, “Look at the immense respect she is giving to her craft. That dedication is exactly why she has sustained such a legendary career to this day,” highlighting her enduring love and respect for cinema.

Directed by Venky Atluri, Vishwanath And Sons stars Suriya, Mamitha Baiju, Raadhika Sarathkumar and Raveena Tandon in key roles. Suriya plays Sanjay Vishwanath, an international shooter whose life revolves around family, relationships and an unexpected romance. The film marks Suriya’s first collaboration with Venky Atluri, who previously directed Vaathi and Lucky Baskhar. It also marks Raveena Tandon’s return to Tamil cinema after more than two decades. With its blend of family emotions and romantic elements, ‘Vishwanath and Sons’ is scheduled to release in theatres on August 14.
