Dhanush on ‘Drishyam’ rights and Mohanlal’s admiration

Dhanush said, “I actually wanted to buy the rights of ‘Drishyam’. You must be wondering how would I have fitted into the lead role as it is a mature character. I either wanted to act or at least produce the film. ‘Drishyam’ is a brilliant film and it deserves much more accolades and recognition than it has actually received.”He added, “My best wishes to the director and legendary actor Mohanlal sir, who is my favourite actor, for coming up with such a film.” The actor’s remarks highlighted his respect for Malayalam cinema and its depth of storytelling.

Dhanush’s limited association with Malayalam films

Dhanush also spoke about his limited association with Malayalam films so far. “His association with Malayalam films till now has been only through Thomson K. Thomas’ ‘Kamath and Kamath,’ where the actor was seen in a guest appearance. However, Dhanush said that he would love to do a full-length character in M-Town. “I really don’t mind if it is a good script; for me language is not a criterion for choosing films.”He linked his fondness for Kerala to its nature and food. “I have visited Kochi, Alappuzha, Trivandrum and Kannur. Kerala is known for its scenic beauty. I enjoy eating kappa. Since I am a vegetarian, I can’t eat kappa with fish curry, so I have it with pickle. Idiyappam and kadala curry are some of my favourite dishes.”When asked about his viral song Why This Kolaveri Di, he said, “I avoid listening to Kolaveri di; I run away when it is being played. I did not do anything to get that kind of recognition and I don’t think the song too deserved that kind of recognition.”
