‘418’ postponed: Prashanth Neel-presented horror thriller delays September 18 release, plans wider multi-language theatrical rollout

The upcoming horror-thriller ‘418’, presented by KGF and Salaar filmmaker Prashanth Neel, has been postponed indefinitely. The film was earlier scheduled to arrive in theatres on September 18, but the makers have now decided to delay the release as they work towards a wider multi-language theatrical rollout. The film had already faced a delay over its certification, reportedly due to its horror content. It eventually received an ‘A’ certificate, following which the makers unveiled its trailer. However, with the film generating growing buzz, the team has now decided to expand its release plans.

Makers announce ‘418’ postponement

The production house announced the postponement through its official X handle, explaining that the film will now be released on a larger scale across multiple languages. The statement read, “We have decided to postpone the release of our highly anticipated horror film ‘418’, which was earlier scheduled for September 18th. We are now planning a wider, multi-language release to take the film to audiences across the country.”The makers also pointed to the response received by the trailer and the feedback from exclusive screenings held for select audiences and members of the film industry.“Our film’s trailer has received a positive response, generating strong curiosity and anticipation among audiences. Adding to this momentum, we have also received highly encouraging feedback from the exclusive screenings held for select audiences and industry members,” the statement added.

‘418’ receives encouraging response from Hindi exhibitors

The makers further revealed that exhibitors from different language markets have responded positively after watching the film. The response from Hindi exhibitors, in particular, has encouraged the team to explore a Hindi release alongside the South Indian versions.“Exhibitors from other language markets who have watched the film have also responded very positively. The response from the Hindi exhibition fraternity has been particularly encouraging, with several exhibitors expressing keen interest in bringing ‘418’ to the Hindi-speaking audience as well,” the makers said. They added that the team is therefore exploring a Hindi release in addition to the South Indian languages, with the aim of taking the film to a wider audience.“We are therefore exploring a Hindi release alongside the South Indian languages, with the intention of taking the film to a much wider audience. The encouraging response has given us the confidence that ‘418’ has the potential to reach a much larger audience, and we believe that the film deserves to be presented on a bigger scale,” the statement read.

Makers to announce new release date soon

The team said the additional time will allow them to plan the film’s release across different markets and ensure that it receives the scale and visibility they believe it deserves.“We are currently working towards a grand multi-language release, allowing audiences across different regions to experience the film in theatres. The additional time will also help us plan the release extensively across markets and ensure that the film gets the scale and visibility it deserves,” the makers stated. As a result, ‘418’ will no longer release on September 18 as previously announced. The makers have promised to reveal the new release date soon.
